![]() Its event flagging is atrocious, but that’s not its biggest sin its dungeon design is weak and uninspired, and the gameplay effectively boils down to a series of fetch quests. I played Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest way back in the day and found it as obtuse and irritating as everyone else appears to. ![]() My history with this franchise is, or was, a fleeting one. This coincides perfectly with a growing desire in me to forsake the vagaries of modern gaming in favour of something a little more organic and challenging modern triple-A video games are about as stimulating to me as a six-hour long documentary about Xanax. ![]() Since Konami now seems to be focused on making crappy mobile knock-offs of beloved franchises instead of jolly well getting on with it and making something worthwhile, now is a better time than ever to perform a post-mortem on one of those franchises.
